    • Maximum distance of 295' from closet to outlet with 10' for workstation jumpers & 23' for cross connect jumpers and patch cords

    • Two wall outlets per workstation
    - One cable must be 4 pair UTP
    - Other cable can be any on of the recognized media

    • Recognized media
    - 4 pair, 100 Ohm UTP
    - 2 pair, 150 Ohm STPA
    - 50 Ohm Coax, not recommended for new installations
    - 62.5 µm Fiber

Backbone

    • Cabling between equipment rooms, entrance facilities and telecommunications closet

    • Conventionally, vertical shaft cable; but also used in a Star Topology in a campus type network

    • Recognized media
    - 100 Ohm Multipair UTP
    - 150 Ohm STPA
    - 50 Ohm Coax, not recommended for new installations
    - 62.5,um Fiber
    - Single mode Fiber
