  • Maximum distance of 295' from closet to outlet with 10' for workstation jumpers & 23' for cross connect jumpers and patch cords
  • Two wall outlets per workstation
    • One cable must be 4 pair UTP
    • Other cable can be any on of the recognized media
  • Recognized media
    • 4 pair, 100 Ohm UTP
    • 2 pair, 150 Ohm STPA
    • 50 Ohm Coax, not recommended for new installations
    • 62.5 µm Fiber

 

Backbone

  • Cabling between equipment rooms, entrance facilities and telecommunications closet
  • Conventionally, vertical shaft cable; but also used in a Star Topology in a campus type network
  • Recognized media
    • 100 Ohm Multipair UTP
    • 150 Ohm STPA
    • 50 Ohm Coax, not recommended for new installations
    • 62.5,um Fiber
    • Single mode Fiber
